Christ Church Supports Habitat for Humanity

Columbia County Habitat for Humanity is now building 2 more Passive Townhouses in Hudson, Phase IV of Habitat's Columbia Street Project. Inspired by Babette Ryder's example, Christ Church parishioners have participated in Habitat builds for several years, Our congregation also includes Sara McWilliams, Habitat's President, and Peter Cervi, a Board member.

Christ Church has been asked to field a team of 10 or so at the build on Saturday, October 25, from 8 a.m. to 3:30. Please sign up on the Parish Hall bulletin board. Call me at 821-3391 if you have any questions. Anyone 16 or older can work at a Habitat site.

Wednesday Community Lunches

The Wednesday lunches at Christ Church Episcopal begin their new season October 1. All are welcome; lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. every Wednesday. The menu changes weekly and consists of one hot dish, such as a soup, a stew, pasta or mac and cheese, and basic beverages.

For the third year, the lunch is charged by donation. Diners are asked to give as little or as much as they can, but all are asked to give something. All contributions go back into the lunch program. Church volunteers cook and serve the meal. To keep costs down, take-out lunches are not sold.

Inclusion Statement by the Wardens and Vestry September 9, 2006

Throughout the controversies in the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion, Christ Church Episcopal has remained unwavering in its determination to provide a welcoming spiritual home to all persons of good will, regardless of race, gender, age, health status, or sexual orientation. We are committed to the principle that all Episcopalians are entitled to the fullest inclusion in all aspects and levels of the church—without any exceptions or reservations. As loyal, mainstream Episcopalians, we celebrate the enlightened, progressive spirit that has made our national church, The Episcopal Church USA, a world leader in the movement to eradicate discrimination in both religious and secular life. We pledge to continue to do all in our power to ensure that this noble effort continues.
